Since 1994, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), a pan-Canadian, independent, not-for-profit organization, has been working to improve the health system and health of Canadians by providing reliable and timely health information. The Institute's mandate, as established by Canada's health ministers, is to develop and maintain a common approach for health information in this country. To this end, CIHI provides information to advance Canada's health policies, improve the health of the population, strengthen our health system, and assist leaders in the health sector to make informed decisions.
After completion of the national survey on medical imaging technologies (2001) by the Canadian Coordinating Office for Health Technology Assessment (CCOHTA), CIHI initiated a number of national surveys on medical imaging technologies, which resulted in the publication in 2003 - 2007 and 2009 of a report on Medical Imaging in Canada. As part of a continued focus on health care technologies, CIHI has once again retained the services of ProMed Associates Ltd to conduct a national survey on an annual basis over the next three years.
Prior to completing the survey forms we request that you review the general instructions and use these as a reference while completing the survey. While filling out the survey forms, you will also have access to context sensitive help to assist you with the questions. These instructions have been designed to facilitate the timely completion of the survey. Based on your feedback, we have added to the questions to enhance the current survey. Participants who were involved in the previous national medical imaging equipment surveys conducted by CIHI may view their data online and update it. If you forgot your CIHI password, and your email has not changed since 2009, please use the online password retrieval function and your old password will be emailed to you. For completion of the information, alternative data collection methods may be arranged with ProMed Associates. As you enter your user profile information data into the survey form, you will be asked to provide a personal password. Please note, that for security reasons and ease of use, the ID of new registrants will be their email address. Once you have completed your registration, you will be able to return and add or revise information at your convenience. This will help us keep this database current and accurate for your own varied uses.
